Serenity Premiere Squee!

Grindhouse
Back from the red carpet Premiere of Serenity! This will be a quick recap because I need to go to bed, lol.

Got there around 6:30 and got our passes no problem. We went up to the food court area (second floor) to watch the red carpet arrivals. We were right in the front up there. Some older, well-dressed people came up to us and asked if we wanted to hold a sign, as we were right in the background, and it would get us on camera. So they handed us a homemade "Nothing in the 'verse can stop us" sign and walked away. I had a sneaking suspicion they were Unversal peeps, not fans, lol!

The first celeb to arrive on the red carpet was Ron Glass. He was interviewed and then gave a little "Browncoats Rule" speech for all of us. Morena was next, but they never brought her up to be interviewed. Then came Joss. No one seemed to notice him at all at first, which was weird. He was interviewed and then also gave a speech for us, saying, "Thank you," to the fans. I love Joss. Then Nathan came through on the fan side of the line, shaking hands and signing autographs. I thought he was going to miss being interviewed, but they sent him back through the line so he could be interviewed. Sean, Summer and Amy Acker all arrived about that time, and we decided we had better get inside.

We got to walk down the red carpet while Nathan, Adam, Sean, Summer and Joss were all being interviewed, so we got to walk past all of them. The movie was showing in four separate theaters, we were in theater 11, which was all Browncoats.

The movie was even better the second time around, and my friend M., who's a huge Whedon fan, loved it. I also had my husband and son with me, and they had both seen it with me at the screening last month. My husband isn't a genre/sci-fi fan at all, but even he still loved seeing it a second time.

After the movie we walked over to Universal for the after party. There was an open bar, and salads and hamburgers. Much of it was on the "city streets," but there was also an inside area, which was decorated to look like the Companion House. It was packed in there! Adam Baldwin walked in about the same time we did, and he came over to my son to say hi, which was so cool! Actually, he said, "I know you, are you A.J?" and when he said no Adam said, "I know your name, it's.....crap!" So I laughed and said, "No, his name's not crap." Then Adam said he was terrible with names but great with faces, and asked my son his name, and said once again that he "totally remembers him" and thanked him for coming. I <3 Adam!

I also saw Saffron (Christina Hendricks) over by the bar. My god, she's beautiful. I sent my husband and M. over to see here, they couldn't find her, but they did find Morena instead. So they both were very happy, because they had been talking earlier about how gorgeous she is.

My son's highlight was the chocolate fountains; they had three, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate. Very cool!

Son was tired and cold and getting a bit whiny, so we left around 11:30. Fabulous premiere and I was blown away by Universal's generosity to the fans!

OMG - words cannot express how jealous I am. It sounds like an *amazing* evening. Lucky lucky you!

I went to see Serenity for the first time on Tuesday this week at one of the UK pre-screenings and I was just...blown away. Can't wait for it to come out here to go and see it again, although I've learned my lesson and will *not* be wearing mascara next time :)

Now if I could have manuevered them into the chocolate fountains, and then licked the chocolate off, the evening would have been perfect ;-)

Hi There!

I was theater 11 also, but we were some of the last fans to go inside. We were also some of the last fans to head over to the afterparty, and we stayed pretty late into the evening. Hmmm, I'm noticing a trend.

Glad to hear you had a great time. I'm still recuperating, but hopefully I'll get my event report up soon. :-)

Yes, I saw you come in and yelled out your name, but you didn't hear me. We were in the very last row.

Looking forward to your report.

One more week.

OMG! I talked to you, my friends and I were sitting right in front of you! LOL. I was the one in the Blue Sun shirt with the really short blonde hair and glasses. That was sooo much fun.

OMG, you offered me your popcorn! I had so much fun watching you guys, because you were screaming and laughing and crying, and it looked like you hadn't seen it before. Made me feel jaded even though it was only my second time.

How cool! I wish I had known it was you.

Yep I was there and I think I saw you, but you were too far away for me to say hi too.

I hope you had a great time...looking forward to your report, even though I am bummed I didn't get to meet you.
